Big Stitch Class: Saturday, Sept. 13th: 10:00am - 1:00pm

Description:  In class, students will learn the technique of hand quilting using the Big Stitch method.  Students will learn how to pin baste their projects, the big stitch quilting stitch and how to use templates to mark their designs.  We will discuss binding quilts also.  Students will practice their stitch on muslin in class and after class will be able to feel confident to work on their own projects at home.

Supplies:

1/2 yard of muslin of solid light 100% cotton fabric

1 piece of batting 18" x 20"

Safety pins for basting #2 or larger

Needles - Bohin #7 sharps

Wooden Quilting Hoop - 12" or 14"

Mechanical pencil of Blue Wonder Washout Marker 

8 Pearle Cotton thread color #820 is a great choice, but any color that shows up on muslin will work.

Thimble - bring your favorite.  We will "test drive" a few if you do not have a favorite.

I will furnish a stencil to work with in class.

Small scissors and a needle threader if you normally use one.
