This class has been created by Cheryl Kemp as a followup to the Slow Stitch Flower Tote class by Linda Fullhart. If you took Linda's class and have your slow stitch piece complete, now is the time to construct a tote bag with a full lining, pocket and handles.
SUPPLIES:
Fabric: Focus Fabric 1/2 yd (not required if you have already completed the embroidery panel in Linda's class.
Lining Fabric: 1/2 yard
Straps & Optional Pocket: 1/2 yard (fabric can be used to cover the webbing if you utilize webbing).
Exterior Stabilizer: (2) pcs 18" x 15" using ByAnnie's Soft and Stable or Bosal foam interfacing
Fusible Interfacing: 1-1/2" yards of SF101 or M101 for lining and pockets
Strapping/Webbing: 2yds of 1" wide
Tools & Notions:
Sewing Machine in good working condition (bring your power cord and foot pedal)
Presser Foot: Standard foot and walking foot (highly recommended for sewing through foam layers)
Needles: Chrome Universal or Microtex Size: 90/14
Cutting: Rotary cutter and quilting ruler
Marking: Wash away marker or tailor's chalk
General Notions: Sewing clips work best, pins, scissors, seam ripper and a Teflon sheet/pressing cloth
Pressing: Best Press (spray bottle with starch or water works well)
Thread: Quality thread to match your fabrics. (Please have your bobbins wound prior to class.
Important: Pre-Class Homework
To ensure we have enough time to assemble the bags in class, please baste/place your main exterior panels onto the foam and quilt them (if applicable) before you arrive. The pattern for this tote will be distributed during the class.
Please be on time or arrive early as to be ready to begin at the start time.
