Spend your Saturday with Tina and learn how to turn a simple sweatshirt into a fun project. Tina will teach you how to take simple quilted blocks and replace the sleeves and add a quilted applique to the front or back of the sweatshirt. Lots of fun and be sure to bring your creativity.
SUPPLY LIST
Sewing machine in good working condition. Don’t forget your cord and if you have it the manual.
Sewing supplies: Thread and bobbins, pins and/or clips, rotary cutter.
Sweatshirt for your project. You may also use a zip up, hoodie or no hoodie. It is best to use a little bit of an oversized one. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about your sweatshirt. I’ll be happy to help you decide what might work best for you.
You will need approximately an 18X18 piece to cover each sleeve. This can be blocks sewn together, pieced fabrics, or a “cheater fabric”. You can also use any 2 fat quarters if you want to cover your sleeves like that. As long as you have a piece that will cover each sleeve, it will work. (You will be sewing this to the sleeve and then quilting it.)
If you would like to put an applique on the front of your sweatshirt, i.e., a heart, a snowman, a quilt block, etc., bring fabric to do that. I will bring shapes to share with you also.
